Check for Leaks

Even a child can spot a leak. So easy is it that sometimes you don’t even need to spot it – you just smell it. Two main fluids you don’t want leaking out of your engine are oil and anti-freeze (coolant).

Engine hoses will succumb to intense heat and pressure. Old and cracked rubber ones are a source of fluid leaks that your engine needs to run efficiently. Parts conjoined with rubber seals and silicon are other weak points you should keep an eye out for.

Make it a habit of checking under the hood to see if you can spot or smell any engine leaks. Occasionally, you can check under the car after parking to see if there is any leakage on the ground below. Staying ahead of a minor leak could save you a big headache later on.
